Life Reformation will be hosting a Reformation Day service on October 31 to which everyone is invited.
Pastor Boekestein will be speaking (D.V.) on Calvin’s view of vocation (another word for “calling”). In many ways Calvin expanded how the Christian world understood calling. Prior to Calvin, only so-called “religious workers” were thought to have a calling. Men were called to the ministry, and that was it. Calvin disagreed, saying that rightly understood and properly discharged everyone has a religious calling.
We think this talk will be encouraging to those who are struggling with work that they aren’t all that excited about and for those who just don’t have a sense of purpose to their lives. With God’s help we will all see how we can work more intentionally for the glory of God. In addition to this address, we hope to join our voices singing praise to our God and to pray for further reformation in our hearts and communities.
The event is free and will be followed with a time of refreshments and fellowship. The event will begin at 6:30 PM at Covenant Reformed Church which is located at 47 S. Church St. in Carbondale, PA.
